Nora’s first birthday was coming up, and she deserved balloon arches! After shopping around online and pricing out a few different options: DIY kits, ordering them from party supply company, etc., the best solution seemed to be to make our own. There were plenty of guides available online with tips and recommendations on which supplies to purchase, so we combined a few of those and voila – an inexpensive balloon arch!

Supplies You’ll Need:

  • Clear Fishing Line
  • Plastic Sewing Needles
  • Balloons in various sizes and colors
  • Low-Temp Cool Glue Gun and cool-temp glue sticks
  • Electric Balloon Pump
  • Command Decorative Hooks

Assembling the balloon arch is simple – just blow up as many balloons as you think you need, tie them off, and string them together using the fishing line and plastic sewing needles. Once you have the desired length, tie off a loop-knot at the top of the string, and hang it from the command hook (if hanging on a wall or stairwell) Finally, fill in the empty gaps by gluing smaller balloons to the main string of balloons.

This was such an easy project for us to do – a couple of hours and a bottle of wine – and Nora loved it!

This also made a great backdrop for prom, and was easy to string up around the metal garden arbor.
